Get to know me. . .
Music blaring in my headsets and a brush in my hand. Each stroke adding life to the canvas in front of me. So focused that nothing else in the world exists in this moment. Here, I am able to do anything, create anything, express an image that is resonating in my minds eye. I love the way the paint, the brush and my hand are all connected and flow. The feeling I get here is hard to explain but one I hope everyone can share in some aspect of their life. This is one avenue I take to rejuvenate from the stresses of life.
I find self-care and personal development essential in having a great work ethic.
What do I DO? So many things.
Professionally, I am a UX/UI Designer, which means I design layouts to help people take in information pleasantly and easily. My goal is to engage and captivate. I am also an Illustrator. Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop), Figma, Microsoft Excel, and Google Drive are some of my tools that assist me. Part of the ability to captivate visually is empathy and understanding of the user’s experience. If I can eliminate some stress or simplify and ease the process for others, that is a great motivator. This is exactly why I’ve become a UX/UI Designer.
While working in a multimillion dollar book printing company I felt a glimpse of this fulfillment. As I climbed my way up from prepress technician to the Production Coordinator, I had multiple responsibilities and functions. One area I was very interested in was the production itself. I took time to research and observe the processes, gathered analytic data, and Interviewed employees, management and even customers about the benefits and pain points on our production process. I found problem areas, evaluated the issues, decided on solutions and implemented changes in the process. Working with our IT professional we designed and built an internal custom workflow in FileMaker, eventually transforming production from a physical paperwork to a virtual workflow on iPads and computer stations. This solution sped up production, organized product scheduling, and drastically reduced reprints. Without knowing it, I was finding my own way into a UX process.
What else do I do? I am a creator, freelancer, property manager, mother, cook, time manager, educator, dreamer and the list goes on. I enjoy soaking in the sun at the beach or the pool, the outdoors, painting, motorcycle rides, and hanging with my family and friends. I am eagerly taking on what life can toss at me.
